"PAYING IS AS IMPORTANT AS FIGHTING"--GLASS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

HARVARD CRIMSON,

Cambridge, Mass.

"I can think of no part of our population to which the Victory Liberty Loan ought to make a stronger appeal than the young men in our Colleges and Universities. The Victory Liberty Loan is the closing chapter of this great contest which has resulted in restoring order to the world. Some of you young men have been fortunate enough to have an active part in this great contest. Others of you have deeply regretted your inability to go. The Victory Liberty Loan will afford every one an opportunity to become an active participant. Paying for the war is just as important as fighting it, and all of us can help to pay. We would be untrue to the boys who offered their lives if we failed to shoulder our part of the burden of those who stayed at home." CARTER GLASS,   Secretary of the Treasury.

Washington, D. C., April 14, 1919.
