CRIMSON FOILSMEN OUT-FENCE YALE IN HARD-FOUGHT MEET

On Saturday afternoon the Crimson foilsmen closed their regular season by registering a 5-4 win over Yale in Hemenway Gymnasium in the closest meet of the season. J. F. Leicester, the Yale captain, proved himself the most brilliant individual fencer by winning all three of his bouts with the same skill which he had shown in the meet that morning with M. I. T. Captain R. H. Snow '20 and G. P. Howard '21 each won two bouts and S. H. Ordway '21 contributed the match which determined the victory for Harvard by his 16-13 defeat of L. F. Bishop, Jr.

The best fencing was shown in the last match between the two opposing captains, when the University had already won the meet 5-3. In this bout the Crimson leader made three touches before his opponent even scored, but Leicester piled up seven in a row, without another count being registered against him.

The summary: Walker, Yale, defeated Ordway, Harvard, 6-5.

Snow, Harvard, defeated Bishop, Yale, 8-4.

Leicester, Yale, defeated Howard, Harvard, 8-4.

Snow, Harvard, defeated Walker, Yale, 6-5.

Howard, Harvard, defeated Bishop, Yale, 9-5.

Leicester, Yale defeated Ordway, Harvard, 12-6.

Howard, Harvard, defeated Walker, Yale, 10-8.

Ordway, Harvard, defeated Bishop, Yale, 16-13.

Leicester, Yale, defeated Snow, Harvard 7-3.

Following the bouts with the foils, Captain Snow defeated L. H. Plumley of Yale in a close and hard fought match with the duelling swords. Previous to this contest Plumley had been undefeated this year and had been credited with victories over Bloomer of Columbia, the intercollegiate champion
