HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
The first detachment of men from the University Artillery Unit will leave for Summer Camp at Camp Knox, Kentucky, today. Fifteen men are in the group, and they will be followed tomorrow and succeeding days by other groups, as rapidly as the men finish their examinations. The men going to camp are as follows: June 16th, E. C. Cotter '22, H. W. Hardy '22, W. M. Westman '22, A. Loring '22, R. F. Elder '22, C. E. Dupee '22, R. A. Cutter '22, G. R. Scithers '22, E. D. Sage '23, G. B. Lourie '23, C. L. Short '23, J. C. Burchard '21, E. D. Hamilton '23, E. A. Norman '23 and H. H. Hudson '23; June 17th, G. F. Knight '23, R. P. Kantor '23, L. H. Oppenheim '22 and H. H. Stamler '23; June 19th, T. Barker '23, B. S. Cogan '23, J. F. Fish '23, W. G. Maclachlan '23, W. L. Maclachlan '23, W. K. Phelps '23, L. R. Ring '21, N. Thayer '21; June 24, W. S. Holbrook '21.
The men leave Trinity Place at 2 P. M. each day that a contingent goes and proceed to Louisville, Kentucky, by way of Albany, Cleveland and Cincinnati. They will arrive at Camp Knox at 9.45 P. M., the day after leaving Boston.
Captain Goetz left for Camp Knox yesterday in order to make preliminary arrangements about the equitation course that he is to give there. Captain Daniels will be in charge of the military office during Captain Goetz's absence.
