UNIVERSITY BASKET MEN MEET FRESHMEN

TO USE FRESHMAN COURT

Playing the type of fast, passing game which the Worcester Polytechnic quintet uses so successfully, the Freshman five will face the University first team in a practice match in the Freshman Athletic Building today at 4 o'clock. The game has been arranged for the purpose of giving the University quintet which has done all of its previous playing in the Hemenway Gymnasium an opportunity to become accustomed to the court conditions in the Freshman Athletic Building, which are very similar to those in the Polytechnic Institute gymnasium at Worcester. As a consequence of this experience, the coaches hope that the University five will not be handicapped due to playing on a strange floor when it meets the Engineers on their home court Saturday.

While the 1924 squad was holding a light workout yesterday, practicing long shots and a new "out-of-bound" play under the basket, the University squad was drilling in passing and shooting baskets. Although he definite line up for the team has been decided upon as yet, it is probable that if the combination with R. W. Fitts '23 at center proves to work smoothly, it will become permanent.

As yet the coaches have not been able definitely to pick the Freshman quintet. An experiment which will be tested in the game today is the shifting of P. Jenkins from the position of roving back to that of left forward. Jerkins, who has had considerable experience both as a basketball and as a football player, has been playing a faster, more aggressive game than any other member of the squad in practice recently and consequently is expected by the coaches to prove a high point scorer.

The line-up today will be:-- UNIVERSITY.  1924. McLeish, r.f.  l.g., Rudofsky McConnell, l.f.  r.g., Black Fitts, c.  c., Sipp Chase, r.g.  l.f., Jenkins Tolbert, l.g.  r.f., Gordon
