SOCCER TEAM PREPARES FOR AMHERST INVASION

INITIAL GAME SCHEDULED FOR WEEK FROM SATURDAY

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach White is pointing the soccer squad toward the opening game of the season with Amherst next Saturday. With that end in view, he plans two hard scrimmages this week, one this afternoon and one Saturday. Six of the Amherst eleven are letter men, and the University also has six veterans from last year's team. The Crimson team expects stiffer opposition than is generally encountered in an opening game.

Coach White organized a second team yesterday to scirmmage with the Freshmen, and put his forward line to work against the remainder of the squad. The forward line at present consists of T. R. Wickersham '26, outside right, R. B. Crooks '27, inside right W. E. Trevvett '27, inside left, M. D. Dorman '25, center, and W. C. Fordyce '26, outside left. The backfield is stronger, according to Coach White, than the front line.

There are several promising men out for fullback, halfback and goal-guard. The loss of Walter Gherardi '27 from the forward line, due to ineligibility, will be keenly felt. It is to some degree balanced, however, by the presence of W. P. Dixon '25, last year's University squash captain, who has had soccer experience in England.

The schedule for this fall follows:

Oct. 11.--Amherst.

Oct. 18.--Univ. of Penn, at Philadelphia.

Oct. 24.--Dartmouth.

Nov. 1.--Cornell.

Nov. 8.--Princeton.

Nov. 15.--Springfield.

Nov. 21.--Yale at New Haven.

Nov. 29.--Haverford at Philadelphia.
