CRIMSON TEAM-PLAY DOWNS HAMILTON 5-2

Apparently as fresh as ever after Monday's struggle with the Tiger, Captain Crosby's men again showed up to good advantage at the Arena last night and won 5-2 from Hamilton College. It was largely a team of substitutes which represented the Crimson after the first two scores, Coach Winsor drawing on almost his whole squad during the course of the evening.

There were no outstanding lights in the Crimson line-up. There was teamwork, however, and this fact accounted largely for the easy victory. Captain Crosby and Chase lived up to former records, and Newell performed creditably at goal. Cumings took over his duties in the third period, but Hamilton's two tallies were due more to a greater effectiveness in their forward line than to any negligence on his part.

Harvard showed no concerted attack for the first few minutes. Soon, however, Austin got free, skated up the left aisle, and his long lift found its mark in the Hamilton goal.

Austin Makes Himself Felt

Halfway through the period Austin duplicated his performance, this time with the support of the entire forward line, and the score stood two to nothing in favor of the Crimson. At this point the visitors braced and individual sallies by Van Vliet and Yates kept the crowd in a tremor. The Harvard defense proved impregnable, however, and halfway through the period Coach Winsor called off his entire first-string combination. Hamilton lost its best chance to score shortly afterwards when Yates broke loose and passed to Nicholson. The latter's shot missed fire only because of Newell's unusual alertness.

Hamilton adopted defensive tactics from the start of the second period, while the individual efforts of the Harvard forwards kept the opposing cage constantly under fire. The Crimson offense seldom slackened, and toward the middle of the period, Chase dribbled up the ice, flicked the puck to Beals, who was waiting in front of the cage, and the latter scored goal number three.

Scoring Quickens At Close

Scores followed thick and fast in the last period. After less than a minute of stick play, Graves took the puck from scrimmage and shot into the corner of the net. Within a few seconds Crosby duplicated the performance.

Hamilton drew blood shortly afterwards, when Captain Bates eluded Crosby and his supporters and shot through Cumings for the visitors first score. The second followed after about three minutes, when Thompson tallied unassisted after a pretty zigzag down the left lane.
