SPRING FOOTBALL TO BE MORE INTENSIVE

Coach Fisher Says He Will Probably Hold Practice Immediately After Recess for Three Weeks

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Spring Football practice will be more important this year than ever before. The avenging of last year's defeat by Yale and the newly adopted policy of making every game the objective for the time being are the chief reasons for so much stress being laid on the practice this year.

The Football campaign started this winter in the form of meetings for players and prospective candidates. The purpose of these three or four meetings was to enable the new men to meet the players and, what was perhaps more important, to create a good morale and the right spirit for a strong foundation for next year's season.

This spirit will be of great aid in making the spring practice a success. That it should be a success is most important, not only because football fall practice has been limited by the H-Y-P agreement but also because the Elis have been practising all winter.

Spring practice serves to give the coaches a valuable line on the candidates; especially the green material. It will also give the new men an opportunity to become familiar with the fundamentals of the Harvard system. The men will also receive individual attention, which is a great help and which is impossible to give in the fail. As has been customary in the past, it is expected that undergraduates will help Head Coach R. T. Fisher '12 and his assistants in the coaching.

Probably Three Weeks

The plans for the coming season are not complete as yet. Coach Fisher, in commenting on the outlook, said that practice would probably begin immediately after the spring recess and continue for about three weeks. Near the end of the practice the customary contests in drop-kicking and punting and scrimmages will very likely be held.

Because of the unprecedented importance of the practice this year there is a strong possibility that secret practice will be held. Moreover, there is also a possibility that practice will be made compulsory for football men except in special cases. It is expected there will be a large turnout, even greater than last year when 55 men reported for for practice.
