A PROMISE

The results of yesterday's track meet were gratifying, and in some of the field events, most surprising. On the whole, however, the weaknesses which had been predicted were found to exist: and the scores may be partly explained by the striking numerical inferiority of the game Virginia team. But nothing can detract from the excellent individual performances of a large number of Harvard athletes who have had little previous experience.

The fact that so many of the University athletes have been developed since coming to college, and that this year's team shows such early promise of continued success indicates that a satisfactory solution of the coaching problem which developed when Coach Bingham left, has been reached. The interest which graduates have taken in Coach Farrell's regime, both as assistant coaches and as advisors, presages a renewed and increased morale. And the results of this enthusiasm and response have been already demonstrated with some success, at the Pennsylvania relays, and yesterday in the Stadium.
