HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
Today the class of 1929 will have its first taste of collegiate politics. The Freshman Dormitory elections will be held today between 12.30 o'clock and 2 o'clock and again between 6 o'clock and 7 o'clock.
Three men will be elected to the Dormitory Committees by each of the three major dormitories, with one Shepherd Hall representative joining the Standish Committee, one Little Hall resident in the Gore Committee, and one man from the non-resident group on the Smith committee. Each voter, therefore, will vote for four men, three from the large dormitory and one from the other hall or group affiliated with it.
The nominees are as follows:
Gore Hall: B. H. Beal, E. P. Dewing, A. M. Geissler, G. D. Guggenheimer, T. S. Kernan, and E. T. Putnam. Non-Residents from Little Hall: G. P. Davis, E. W. Sexton, R. K. Tilt, and P. S. Wisc.
Standish Hall: Winslow Carlton, C. M. Churchill. R. L. Debevoise, S. G. Hardy, T. F. Kane, T. G. Moore, C. McK. Norton, H. W. Rose, G. H. Shaw, and J. D. Strong. Non-Residents from Shepherd Hall: A. E. French, H. F. Godfrey, Arthur Mills, and K. D. Robinson.
Smith Halls: W. H. Bingham, F. W. Farnsworth, G. H. Norris, R. H. O'Connell, T. W. Robinson, James Simpson, M. D. Soutter, J. E. Stevens, C. D. Stevens, C. D. Stillman, and A. S. Woodworth, Non-Residents: C. B. Carnegle, J. M. Curran, D. F. Jones, Jr., and A. V. King.
Upperclassmen to Tend Boxes
The upperclassmen who have been appointed to tend the ballot boxes are as follows: R. W. Ladd '27 and Asaph Churchill '28 in Gore Hall; George Higginson '27 and H. W. Foote '27 in Standish Hall; and W. I. Nichols '26 and R. H. Field '26 in Smith Halls.
