SMITH TO LEAD FIVE AGAINST TECHNOLOGY

Captain W. T. Smith '26, who sprained his wrist slightly in scrimmage on Friday night, will be able to start at his regular birth at left forward when the University five plays its second game of the season against M. I. T. at the Hemenway Gymnasium at 8 o'clock this evening.

There was some doubt as to the seriousness of Smith's injury at first, but the injured member is again in good shape. Jones, who broke a rib before the Dartmouth game, suffered a second mishap when he sprained an ankle in scrimmage, and it is doubtful whether he will play tonight.

Barbee to Start at Left Guard

Barbee has replaced Coombs at left guard to start the second game. Coombs played the whole Dartmouth game, but Barbee's superiority in getting the ball off the opponents' backboard has won him the post, temporarily at least.

An improvement has been evidenced in the play of Rauh, star center, especially in his passing, which has always been the weakest point in his game. He is the strongest man on the team in following up shots from the floor.

Pointing for Holy Cross Game

The men have not yet reached the peak of condition, but a return to the form shown in the Dartmouth game is hoped for. The objective of this week is the Holy Cross game, which is to be played in Cambridge on Saturday night.

The M. I. T. five has won only one contest in five starts this season. Dartmouth, defeated 36-22 by the University, trounced the M. I. T. men 38-21 after the Engineers had won their first game with New Bedford Classical by a score of 45-18. Since then M. I. T. has gone down before Tufts and Brown by close margins of 26-22 and 22-20 respectively.

The advisability of starting the season before vacation, and suffering the letdown necessitated by the Christmas vacation will be determined after tonight's game.

The attendance at the Dartmouth game was far larger than at the early games last year. This is attributed to the fact that H. A. A. ticket books will admit to all basketball games held in Cambridge this year
