UNION TENNIS TOURNEY GETS UNDER WAY WITH 95 ENTRIES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Union tennis tournament started last Monday with 95 entrants, 20 more than last year. The first round matches in both singles and doubles are to be played off by tonight under penalty of default. The draws have been posted at the Union and at Harry Cowles's Squash Shop, at 85 Mt. Auburn Street.

The large number of entrants has been accounted for by the new plan of dividing singles players into two classes, according to their ability. This plan was first successfully put into practice last year. Winners in both divisions will be awarded silver cups. There are no seeded players in either singles event.

Four teams have been seeded in the doubles tournament. These are C. R. Hamlen 29 and G.H Perking 1G; P.M. Lenhart 27 and T.E. Jansen Jr. 11; T.O. Kingsbury '27 and Stephen Thompson '27 Edward Ward '30 and partner. G.H. Perkins 1G. is managing the three tournaments for the Union.
