The second day of the annual Invitation Regatta saw three University 150-pound crews and the Freshman dormitory crews in action. Crew D, stroked by E. B. Hanley '27, won the 150-pound race, and the Smith Hall eight triumphed from the other dormitory crews.
Crew D Wins by Two Feet
In the lightweight contest, Crew D, after trailing B by a quarter of a length to the bridge, pulled up at the end of the race to win by two feet. Crew C was several lengths behind at the finish, never being in a position to threaten the leaders. On Thursday the three shells which raced today will have another brush, this time with the regular crew also rowing.
The line-up of crew D, yesterday's winner, was: bow, B. G. Gould '27; z, L. A. Coolidge '27; 3, E. P. Bayley '28; 4, F. Q. Brown '27; 5, R. C. Coolidge '27; 6, R. E. Gregg '28; 7, J. J. Hollister ocC.; stroke, E. B. Hanley '27; cox., H. R. Jewett '27.
The time over a one mile course was 5 minutes 41 seconds, due largely to the choppiness of the course.
The Smith crew, stroked by James De Normandie '29, won by a length and a half from Gore 1, with Standish, the Black Cats, and Gore 2 following in that order.
The seating of the Smith boat follows; bow, Wells Knierim; 2, E. J. Briesen; 3, S. C. Millett; 4, C. C. Gray; 5, Dean Chamberlain; 6 H. K. McCain; 7, H. C. Winthringham; stroke, James De Normandie; cox., R. H. Crawford.
