Brown Castellan Holds Five Man Shock at Bay--Captain Ellison Again Gets Home Twice

Providence, R. I., Jan. 18--Brown's underrated sextet held the Crimson ice squad to a 5 to 1 score here tonight at the Rhode Island Auditorium.

Though outplayed throughout the contest the Bruins displayed a brilliant defense which repeatedly foiled the Crimson attack in its flashy dashes into alien territory. Fessenden time and again kept the puck out of his net by his cool headwork and consistent guarding.

A Crimson five man offense at the end of the first period had only succeeded in holding the Brown sextet to a 1 to 1 tie. Zarakov and Tudor cooperated on the first goal, the latter slamming the rubber past Fessenden. Chase scored the only goal for Brown, receiving a pass near the net from Binns, who poked the rubber past Adams, starting in place of Morrill.

The Brown defense slumped in the second period, Zarakov evading it for a second goal. In the last period the fast Crimson offense had the situation under command, Ellison scoring twice and Scott getting a final goal, Gross, Brown left defense man, being off the ice under durance at the time.

The Brown sextet seems to have made the most of its time since the Yale defeat of 9 to 0, though the absence of Clark and Morrill from the Crimson lineup indicates that Coach Bigelow, anticipating an easy victory, gave these men a night off.

The summary follows: HARVARD  BROWN Gross, Tudor l.w.  r.w. Billings Coase, Scot tc.  c. Partridge, Peters Hamlen, Zarakov r.w.  l.w. Binns, Chase Ellison, Wylde l.d.  r.d. Perrine Coady, Howard r.d.  l.d. Cross Adams g.  g. Fessenden

Score, Harvard 5, Brown 1. Goals, Elison 2, Tudor, Scott, Zarakov, Chase. Time, 20-minute periods.
