Committeemen Arrange Dormitory Social Activities-Freshmen May Elect Other Incumbents

Announcement has been made through University Hall of the appointment of four Freshman dormitory committees to assist the proctors in planning the social activities of the first-year men.

The list of committees is as follows:

Smith Halls: C. D. G. Breckinridge, Chairman, E. C. Carter, Jr., R. M. Hale, J. De. F. Junkin, V. Monroe, Jr., G. L. Robinson, P. A. Tolman, C. M. Underhill, and H. W. Williams, Jr.

Standish Hall: H. P. Nichols, Chairman, M. W. Gill, S. Putnam, J. M. Sargent, P. H. Watts, and F. A. Whiting, Jr., of Shepherd Hall.

Gore Hall: R. J. Leonard, Jr., chairman, R. C. Aldrich, F. Ayer, H, T. H. Brackett, and R. W. Pearson.

McKinlock Hall: M. Stearns, Jr., Chairman, J. G. R. Heckscher, J. H. Henshaw, R. L. Scott, and R. C. Walker.

In accordance with the plan of A. E. French '29, these appointments were made by ht head proctors, and confirmed by Regent Matthew Luce '91, the purpose of the early selection being to get dormitory activities under way as soon as possible. Hitherto the choices have been made by vote of the Freshmen.

The newly chosen committees will cooperate with the authorities in planning dormitory meetings and smokers, arranging inter-dormitory sports, and purchasing magazines for the Common Rooms.

In the selection an effort was made to represent both public and private schools, as well as various parts of the country, but if the dormitory residence are dissatisfied, they may choose their committees by vote, providing that one third of the residents of each hall petition to the head proctors before January 15.
