HAINES CHOOSES FRESHMAN CREWS

Haines Assumes Charge of 150 Pound Crews--Four Mentors Added to Staff of Coaches

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Three eights have been chosen by Coach H. H. Haines to compose the first Freshman crew squad, it was announced last night. At the same time it was learned that a squad of two 150 pound crews has been picked and will be under the tutelage of Coach Haines together with the heavy crews.

In spite of the fact that the seating of the first year crews is usually pretty well settled by this late in the season the Freshman material this year has been of such a nature that it would have been difficult to pick any eight men who were outstanding. Even the squad which has just been chosen is by no means permanent and it is probable that there will be some reseating between now and spring vacation, when Coach Haines expects to select the eight men who will be kept practically intact as a crew throughout the remainder of the season.

Crew A. Stroke, Willard; 7, Dickey; 6, Boldt; 5, Storey; 4, Warner; 3, Rawle; 2, Parker; bow, Lewis.

Crew B--Stroke, Brownell; 7, Taylor; 6, Mason; 5, Hamlin; 4, Roosevelt; 3, Comstock; 2, R. A. Page; bow, Batchelder.

Crew C. Stroke, Gray; 7, Renner; 6, Donaldson; 5, Blaikie; 4, Campbell; 3, Wintringham; 2, Wilson; bow, Alexander.

Although J. B. Keogh '25 was originally appointed mentor of the Freshman 150 pound eights, Coach Haines has decided to take the tutelage of these men into his own hands and Keogh will be one of the four coaches of The dormitory crews. The two 150 pound eights which were announced last night but which are no more definite than the heavy crews announced at the same time are seated as follows:

Crew A--Stroke, I. T. Williams; 7, Murphy; 6, Barnum; 5, Gleason; 4, Chamberlin; 3, Stedman; 2, Freedman; bow, Staples.

Crew B--Stroke, J. H. Storey; 7, Baker; 6, Roberts; 5, Baldwin; 4, Phillips; 3, Chisholm; 2, Blair; bow, Auchnoody.

The oarsmen who are not on the first heavy or 150 pound crew squads will be made up into dormitory crews from now on and each dormitory is to have its own coach. J. D. Keogh '25, W. E. Beer '26, V. F. Righter '26 and D. C. Gates '26 are to compose the dormitory coaching staff.
