FIVE EVENTS OPEN FALL HANDICAP TRACK MEET

TWENTY FOUR MEN ENTERED IN DISTANCE RUN

On the opening day of the Fall Handicap Track meet, yesterday, the 100 and 220 yard dashes, the one and a half mile, the running broad jump, and the shot put were run off. The 110 yard hurdles event was postponed to this afternoon at 3.15 o'clock.

The results of the semi-finals of the 100 yard dash were as follows: First heat first, F. T. Brown '32, three yard handicap; second, W. M. Dow '29, two yard handicap: third, W. C. Rowe '31, two yard handicap. Time--10 2-5 seconds. Second heat--first, M. P. Beveridge '32, one yard handicap; second, J. B. Hawes '32, three yard handicap; third, K. L. Johnson '32, two yard handicap. Time--10 2-5 seconds. These men will qualify for the final tomorrow at 3.45 o'clock.

Munroe Wins 220

Summary of the 220 yard dash: First heat--first, V. L. Munroe '31, one yard handicap; second, George Kirstein '32, one yard handicap; third, J. E. Hartnett '29, one yard handicap. Time--22 4-5 seconds. Second heat--first, W. M. Dow '29, two yard handicap, second, F. T. Brown '32, two yard handicap; third, E. A. Walker '32, two yard handicap. Time--23 4-5 seconds.

Of 24 entries in the one and a half mile run, the first three places were taken as follows: first, P. S. Dalton '31, 1-4 mile handicap; second, R. H. Phelps '30, 1-4 mile handicap; third, Sturdevant Burr '31, 1-4 mile handicap. Time--G minutes, 36 seconds.

The summary of the broad jump follows: first, A. L. Watkins '31, 2 feet 4 inches handicap: second, David White '29, scratch; F. T. Brown '32, 4 inches handicap. Distance--21 feet 6 1-2 inches.

Shot put summary: first, J. R. Bicknell '32, 6 feet handicap; second C. S. Eaton '32, five feet handicap; third John Berkowitz '32, scratch. Distance--16 feet, 3 inches.
