PICK ASSOCIATES FOR FIRST HOUSES

Will Fill Advisory Capacities and Attend Meals and Social Functions of Respective Halls

The list of Associates and Honorary Associates for the first two houses was made public last night. The Honorary Associates are common to both of the units and will have no especial duties of supervision or administration. They are the President of the University, Edward S. Harkness, the Dean of the Faculty, and the Dean of the College.

The Associates are attached to the Houses in a more or less advisory capacity. They will eat frequently in the hall dining rooms, and will attend the various functions of the units.

The Associates of Lowell House are Alfred North Whitehead, Professor of Philosophy, Edward Kenard Rand '94, Professor of Latin, Roger Bigelow Merriman '96, Gurney Professor of History, Archibald Thompson Davison '05, Professor of Music, Robert Pierpont Blake, Associate Professor of History and Director of the Widener Library, and Harlow Shapley. Paine Professor of Practical Astronomy and Director of the Observatory.

For Dunster House the Associates are John Livingston Lowes, Professor of English, Charles Howard Mcllwain. Eaton Professor of Government, Lawrence Henderson, Professor of Biological Chemistry. Paul Joseph Sachs '00, Professor of Fine Arts and Assistant Director of the Fogg Museum of Arts. Alfred Marston Tozzer '00, Professor of Anthropology, Edward Ballantine, Assistant Professor of Music. James Bryant Conant, Professor of Chemistry, and Edward Allen Whitney, Assistant Professor of History and Literature.
