WRESTLING OFFICIALS MEET IN CONFERENCE

Harvard Squad to Demonstrate Holds Under Discussion--Will be Held at Hemenway

This afternoon in Hemenway Gymnasium at 4 o'clock will be held a wrestling demonstration by the Harvard wrestling squad at which the referees, officials, and coaches of the colleges of Greater Boston will attend.

This demonstration is another indication of Harvard's new policy of gathering officials together to codify the rules of various sports. Recently this has been done for hockey for the first time, and basketball coaches and referees have already gathered this year to settle disputed rulings for this season.

The proposal was first made some time ago at a meeting of the New England Intercollegiate Wrestling Association held at the H. A. A. At first it was proposed that the officials alone assemble to standardize the regulations for Greater Boston. Representatives of Harvard, M. I. T. Tufts, and Brown were present, and all agreed on the advantage of doing this. As an added step, Coach Gallagher of Harvard then suggested that in addition the coaches from these colleges be present, to avoid misunderstanding between coaches and referees at the meets.

Accordingly this demonstration will be held today. Outsiders will not be admitted. The Harvard squad will go through the various holds, counters, breaks, and so forth; the coaches and officials will then hold open discussion and draw up a standard set of regulations by which all will abide.

The first match of the year will be with M. I. T. on January 8.
