THIRTY MEN TAKE PART IN ORATORICAL TRIALS

FINALS WILL BE HELD APRIL 3 IN SANDERS THEATRE

Thirty men delivered selections yesterday afternoon in the trials for the Lee Wade and Boylston prize speaking competition. Although the ten speakers who will appear in the finals on April 3, are to be chosen on yesterday's showing, Professor F. C. Packard Jr. '20 has not yet announced their names.

This prize is the third oldest in the University and has always attracted many candidates; last year 54 men reported at the preliminary trials. The award amounts to one prize of $50 and two of $20, and the selections may be given in English, Latin, or Greek.

The board of judges who are to pass upon yesterday's selections is composed of Professor Packard, C. T. Copeland '82, Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, Emeritus, and Dr. G. H. Maynadier '89. Their selection of speakers for the finals in the Sanders Theatre on the evening of April 3 will be announced shortly.
