New Haven, Conn., October 10--The move to limit attendance at Yale football games gained momentum today when the Yale Alumni Weekly printed a letter from Farwell Knapp, assistant state tax collector, which stated that the crowds at the games should be "limited to undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty members, with perhaps an allowance of one or two guests apiece."
The Weekly commented editorially in part:
"The flare-up of the last decade in public enthusiasm over football may not last indefinitely, or it may come to seem a wise course to step aside from the annual excitement of it and put the game on an entirely different footing. Financial independence is the first step toward such a conclusion."
