PROFESSOR HIND WILL LECTURE ON FINE ARTS

FINISHES COURSE ON REMBRANDT NEXT MONTH

Speaking under the auspices of the Division of the Fine Arts, Professor A. M. Hind will deliver a series of lectures open to the public on "Studies in X VII century Art, Cross Currents of Influence between Northern and Southern Europe." These lectures will be given in the large lecture hall of the Fogg Museum on Thursday afternoons, at 5 o'clock, beginning in February.

Professor Hind will trace the influences of the masters from the Middle Ages down to modern art. The subjects of his lectures will be as follows: February 5, "Adam Elsheimer and Northern Artists in Rome"; February 12, "Rubens and Van Dyck in their Relations with Italy"; February 19, "Poussin and Claude"; February 26, "Claude's Drawings"; March 5, "El Greco and Modern Art"; March 12, Conclusion: "Italy the School of the world."

Concludes Course on Rembrandt

Continuing with his regular Charles Eliot Norton Lectures, Professor Hind will speak on "Portraits", "Landscapes", and then deliver a concluding lecture to sum up his course on Rembrandt. These three talks will be given on February 11, 18, and 25, respectively in the New Lecture Hall, Wednesday evenings at 5 o'clock. The lecture scheduled for February 4 has been cancelled.

After each one of the Norton Lectures, students will have the opportunity of meeting Professor Hind in his room on the third floor of the Fogg Art Museum on the afternoons of his lectures from 2 until 4 o'clock. At that time Professor Hind will discuss his lectures and answer questions.

These lectures are open to all members of the University, and also to the public.
