CRIMSON POINTING FOR TEXAS AFTER WIN FROM CADETS

Showing as great an improvement over the form of its early season games as its promise had led even the most optimistic to expect, Harvard's football team came from behind in the second period, to defeat a favored Army eleven at West Point Saturday, 14 to 13, in a game strangely reminiscent of the 20 to 20 tie two years ago, but played between two far better teams.

By its victory over Army, the Crimson has passed the first of its major barriers. Next Saturday it meets a Texas eleven which has been pointing over a year for the Harvard game, and, although beaten two weeks ago by Rice, won from Oklahoma Saturday, and completed 12 passes out of 22 tries while doing so. It has zealously guarded its regulars, and will be in the best of condition for the game in the Stadium.

A Tremendous Battering.

Harvard's team, however, received a tremendous battering from the Army game, and it is probable that all but those who played only in the last few minutes will rest today, on the field either in uniform or street clothes. Hardy and Kopans, who left the game either wholly or partially exhausted, will be excused from early practices this week but are expected to see action against Texas Saturday. Esterly will not be on the field for a week or ten days, and Myerson's absence from the Texas clash will further weaken the forward wall. This afternoon, team B will hold a hard scrimmage against the scrubs.

Distinctly a Team Effort

Harvard's attack was almost as simple as that employed against Bates and New Hampshire; it was executed with such blocking as no Harvard team has displayed in a college generation at least, while Wood's passes kept the Army defense off balance all afternoon.

The triumph was distinctly a team effort, though several individuals stood out brilliantly. Wood has never played a more useful role. The blocking of Hageman, Schereschewsky, and White paved the way for Crickard's brilliant sallies against the Army defense. Harvard's green line, undergoing its first real trial, emerged covered with glory Stacked up against a set of hard-bitten West Point veterans, Hardy, Hallowell, Esterly, Myerson, Kopans and their reliefs fought Army's far-famed frontier to a standstill.
