Novice Singles, Wherry, Comp Races Rowed Over Half Mile Course

In the first annual fall sculling regatta, three races were held over a half-mile course on the Charles River yesterday afternoon.

In the novice singles, the feature race of the afternoon, F. C. Bell '33 won from R. L. Anthony 1GB, a member of the Yale 150-pound crew which won the Henley regatta last spring. Third place was taken by C. McK. Martin 3L, a former Harvard oarsman. Among the comps, Lawrence Grinnell 1GB defeated David Rogers '34; a wherry race was won by W. G. Gibson 1GB, with J. A. Fessler 2L second. The junior singles, open to all members of the University, will race this afternoon at 3 o'clock over a three-quarter mile down-stream course.
