Harvard Captain Leads Field By One Minute--Five of Mikkola's Runners Place in First Ten

A strong New Hampshire cross country team defeated both the Harvard and Dartmouth harriers yesterday afternoon in a five and a half mile race. Arthur Foote '33, captain of the University team, gained first place, about a minute ahead of four New Hampshire runners, who came in ten seconds apart. J. S. Hayes '33, C. F. Woodard '3b, and James Parton '34 followed next, and with J. P. Schen '35, who finished tenth gave Harvard second place in the race with 32 points. Dartmouth with 101 points made a poor showing, since the first Green runner to cross the line finished fifteenth.

The New Hampshire Freshmen defeated the first year men in a race held before the Varsity race by a score of 24 to 32. R. S. Playfair '36 came in first finishing well ahead of the next runner.

Next Saturday the University harriers depart for Princeton, where they will meet Yale and Princeton in two dual meets. A week later comes the University handicap meet, and then on Monday, November 14, the team travels down to New York for the I.C.4A race.
