A meeting celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Professorship of Theory and Practice of Physic at Harvard, one of the first three professorships in medicine at the University, will be held on Tuesday evening, December 20, at the Harvard Medical School. The ceremony will be attented by the faculty and students.

The professorship was established on December 24, 1788, and in the 150 years since that time, it has had seven holders, all of whom have played a notable part in the history of the Harvard Medical School. The first incumbent was Benjamin Waterhouse, 1782-1812, followed by James Jackson, 1812-1836, John Ware, 1836-1869, George C. Shattuck, 1859-1873. Francis Minot, 1873-1891, Reginald Heber Fritz, 1892-1908, and Henry A. Christian appointed in 1908.

Dr. Christian, present holder of the professorship, will address the meeting. Descendants of his six predecessors will also speak.
