RIFLE CLUB WILL OPEN SPRING SEASON TODAY

First Trip Will Be Made to Walnut Hill This Afternoon-Plan New 22 Team In Addition to 30 Calibre One

Official opening of the spring season of the Harvard Rifle Club will be made today when members of the executive committee take the first daily expedition out to the Walnut Range.

In addition to the regular, 30 calibre six man team it is now planned to organize a .22 team which will give more members a chance to participate in active matches. The two heavy calibre shoots now scheduled are with Boston College on Friday, May 6, and with Trinity College on Friday, May 20. Other meets will be announced as soon as the dates can be settled.

Improvements and now, ranges laid out at the Walnut Hill Club will offer ample facilities for this spring's shooting. A consignment of 12,000 rounds of 30 and .22 calibre ammunition has just been received from the War Department for use during the coming season.

Groups of Rifle Club members will leave daily except on weekends from Winthrop House to practice at the Woburn range, and teams will be selected on the basis of this practice shooting Clay pigeon traps and a number of pistol butts are also available for use, but the main stress will be laid on rifle shooting.
