Having placed second in the first two matches with the Boston Rifle and Revolver Club, the Harvard Pistol Club, coached by Major Henry C. Jones, attained the top rank in their third match which was held recently in the Commonwealth Armory.
Friday evening the team lost to the Melrose Fish and Game Club, 699 to 702, a mark far below previous top score by the Harvard contingent, which was 777 out of a possible thousand.
The present high scoring members of the team include Howland B. Stoddard '36, Richard H. Dennis '36, Clyde L. A. Sears '36, John C. Penrod '36, and Cornelius Van S. Roosevelt '37. Other members of the group are Russell S. Clymer '36, Malcolm S. M. Watts, Jr. '37, Howard A. Cook '37, Fairfield Day '36, Eoin M. Nyhen '36, Robert E. Paige '37, and Charles F. Samson '36.
Beginning early in March the matches by mail will start with other ROTC units at the University of Wisconsin, Princeton, Virginia Military Institute, and Purdue.
