ELLIOTT TO STUDY DOMINIONS DURING LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Friedrich Will Head Department in Interval -- Taussig, McLaughlin, and Walton on Sabbatical

William Y. Elliott, professor of Government, has been granted leave of absence for the first half of next year, according to an announcement made yesterday at University Hall. He will spend the time in visiting Canada, Newfoundland, the West Indies, and if possible, Australia and New Zealand, to gather material for a book on the British Commonwealth of Nations, which he is about to write. All his courses will be presented in the second half of the year. Carl J. Friedrich, associate professor of Government, will act as the head of the Government department during Elliott's absence.

Several Other Grants

Announcement was made of several other grants of leave of absence. Clarence E. Walton, assistant librarian, will spend three months from September 1 in Europe, studying the organization and special problems of library administration there. Dr. Madeleine E. Field, instructor in Psychology, will be absent for the whole of next year.

Sabbatical leave for the second half of next year has been granted to Frank W. Taussig '79, Henry Lee Professor of Economics; Warren A. Seavey '01, professor of Law; and to Donald H. McLaughlin, professor of Mining Engineering.
