A perfectly executed third period shot by Don Sleeper, outside right, gave the Varsity soccer team a 1-0 win over the Lucy Recs seconds in the first game of the season here Saturday.

With the exception of Sleeper's kick the Crimson offense was ragged. Real credit for the win belongs to the inner cordon of the home defense which repeatedly turned back scoring threats at the goal mouth.

Put Williams in goal and fullbacks Dick Powell, Ted Robie, and Joe Bradley show that if they can keep off the injured list, Coach Carr need have little worry over these position.

Though Bob Scott and George Phillips played capably in spots, the halfbacks also reflected the teams's general uncertainly in ball control and slowness in passing.

Bright spot in the situation was the absence of any tendency towards "kick and run play" which is often fatal to team organization, especially early in the season
