SEXTET DOWNS WESTERN TROJANS 6-2; FESLERMEN OVERCOME TERRIERS 50-37

Prospects for a successful Crimson hockey season were given another big boost at the Boston Arena Saturday night, when Coach Clark Hodder's surprising sextet followed their opening victory against the Junior Olympics by outplaying a fast Southern California team to the tune of 6 to 2 before a crowd of 3,500.

The Varsity took the lead early in the first period and held the Trojans at bay from then on, scoring one more in the same canto and the rest during a hectic third period on-slaught. Despite a fast-skating squad and a clever passing attack, the Canadian-manned Coast six never really seemed to get going against the steadier, back-checking Hoddermen.

Harding Stars

Captain Austie Harding, playing with a shoulder brace as a result of an injury sustained Tuesday night in the Olympics game, was the individual star of the evening, with three goals and an assist to his credit, but every man on the ice turned in a good performance. Patrick, Eaton and Winslow, with one goal apiece, accounted for the rest of the Crimson tallies.

Both of the Trojan goals and two of the Crimson's were made against a short handed opponent, with one score for each of the four penalties in the game. When Hadder's men really rolled up the points in the last period, it was largely through their ability to get the jump against the westerners' desperate five-men power plays.

Patrick Scores First

Joe Patrick, first line winger, was the first scorer for the Varsity, when he sank a pass from Harding at 9:10. Then, after Lenox of the Trojans had evened things up. Dave Eaton took what looked to most of the spectators and all of the Trojans like an offside pass from Warren Winslow, and netted it with 57 seconds of the period remaining.

The second period was fast but scoreless, with only the fine work of Dave Mitell in the Crimson goal preventing a relentless Trojan attack from succeeding. In the third canto a succession of power plays proved the visitors' final undoing, when their defense was unable to check back in time to prevent four Crimson successful jumps, one by Winslow and the rest by Harding.
