Sir Herbert Ames Deplores Hitler's Power in Germany

Blames United States for Situation Abroad in Not Joining League

Sir Herbert Ames, firs Treasurer of the League of Nations, deplored the power that has been built up by Hitler in Germany, after his talk about last fall's Nazi rally given in the Union last night.

Tracing the situation in Germany back to the time when the United States Senate failed to back up President Wilson in his League of Nations, Sir Herbert blamed it on the United States. He felt that if the United States and entered the League that France would not have been afraid of Germany and would have allowed changes in the Treaty of Versailles that would have made it more tolerable.

He felt that Hitler and his National Socialist party are natural sequels to Germany's underdog position.
