Harvard's hill-and-dalers scored a stunning victory over Holy Cross on the gruolling course along the Charles River yesterday afternoon. The Varsity triumphed 22 to 41, and the Freshmen 26 to 36.

Although Iron-man Jack Haley, the Crusaders' ace half miler and miler, led the Varsity pack through the tape in 29:02. Jaakko Mikkola's operatives captured seven out of the first ten places.

Langy Burwell, a Junior who only started big-time running last winter, breezed home only nine seconds behind Haley in second place. Penn Tuttle and Gene Clark, Jaakko's veteran long distance pair, finished in third and fourth places, trailed by diminutive Dick Wing.

Lightbody Twelfth

Joe McLoughlin, Bob Jay (last year's Freshman captain) and Kay Rogers took eighth, ninth, and tenth places. Jim Lightbody, quarter-miler, who will captain this year's, track team, registered in twelfth place.

Paul S. "Nebraska" Johrde, Yardling captain, led his teammates home in the Freshman event, closely pressed by Cronin and Kelley of the Crusader cubs.

Although the Varsity times were a trifle slower than in last year's meet, Jaakko was not disappointed with the showing made by his charges, who will race Dartmouth and New Hampshire in a triangular meet next Friday.
