Total University registration to date is 7,990 students, a figure slightly below last year's 8,133, according to an announcement by University Hall late last night.

Latecomers are expected in all departments of the University however and this figure will probably be increased by about two hundred. Last year's late registrations, which finally brought the University total to 8,583, were unusually large due to the hurricane.

College Enrollment Down

The almost complete enrollment of the College is 3,552 as compared with last year's final figure of 3,640. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences shows a slight increase in enrollment with 917 this year as compared with 880 in 1938-39. This increase shows a steady rise in Graduate enrollment during the past four years.

Other departments have substantially the same number as in recent years. Candidates for the degree of Master of Arts in Teaching number 40; candidates for degrees in Education, Graduate School of Education, 85.

The Medical School has 523 future doctors registered, and the School of Public Health 76. The Dental School's enrollment of 156 is four less than 1938.

Law School Leads

The Law School still leads by far all the other departments of the University outside of the College with a student body of 1,375. The Business School comes next with 930. The Graduate School of Engineering has 142 registrants.

The Divinity School has 64; the Graduate School of Public Administration, commonly known as the Littauer School, has an enrollment of 13. There are 22 Junior Fellows and 12 Nieman Fellows in Journalism.
