In its first game of the year, an informal contest with the Sae Miguel club of Cambridge, the Varsity soccer team nosed out its opponent by a score of 3. to 2.
Coach Jack Carr's charges did all of their scoring in the first half, while the Sao Miguel team seriously threatened the Crimson team in the second half with its two tallies.
Bill Edgar, John Sawhill, and Dan Poor each scored once for the Varsity, and were outstanding throughout the game. Herky Herakovits at left outside and Jack Ponson in the goal also played especially well.
The lineup for the Crimson booters was:
Penson and Sachs, goal; Killam and Pecci-Blunt, right half; Oresman and Lowe, left half; Ives, Myerson, and Kyte, right half; Edgar, center half; McCook and Hanford, left half; Willetts and Staber, right outside; Murphy and Poor, right inside; Calhoun and Sawhill, center forward; Vorley and Gifford, left inside; and Herskovits, left outside.
