SIX EDGED BY GREEN, 5 TO 4

For the third Quadrangular League game in a row the Varsity hockey team came off the ice a one-goal loser. Dartmouth's Indians turned the trick Saturday night at Hanover by piling up an imposing 3 to 0 lead and then coasting in victorious by a count of 5 to 4.

A disastrous opening period told the story. The second and third Crimson lines failed to function properly, and the Indians took advantage of Sherm Gray's two-minute charging penalty to add two quick goals to their total.

Second Period Crimson's

Harvard usually has one period in which it skates all over the opposition, and on Saturday evening it was the second. The Varsity went into it trailing 3 to 1, with the lone Crimson goal credited to George Duane in the closing second of the first period when the puck ricocheted off a Dartmouth skate and past the goalie.

Only the good work of Ted Lapres in the Green nets kept Pren Willetts' team from running up a substantial lead in the second. Time and again a Crimson bladesman would break loose and close in on Lapres, but the Dartmouth net minder succeeded in stopping all but two of the shots. Gordie McGrath tallied on an assist from Stacy Hulse, and Burgy Ayres counted with Duane getting an assist.

Hodder Shifts Second Line

During this period Hodder shifted McGrath to center, moved Bob Cox out to wing, and tried Demi Lloyd at the other wing with fairly good results. The Sophomore third line, gaining confidence as the game progressed, gave a much better account of itself.

Before the last period was five minutes old, the Indians were out ahead 5 to 3. Caleb Loring scored the fourth Crimson goal on an assist from George Gebelein at the half-way mark, but although the Varsity had several chances to tie the game up after that, it never did gain the vital goal.
