Harvard Naval Training School entered a new phase this week with the arrival of the first class destined wholly for Communications instruction. Unlike the 60-day Indoctrinates who were graduated just last week, the 300 hands who have lately entered the Yard will get their fill of Indocrination in one month and then spend four months more in Cambridge on Communications.
When the School opened here last July it included both straight Indoctrination and Communications students, and two classes of the former have been processed. Men who graduated from these courses have gene on to either further training, teaching, or active service.
A rumor that the new uniforms darkening the Yard were Commando suite was cleared up as officials explained that the blue wool shirts and trousers are the new winter uniform. Used for all Naval students here, it has been especially designed to suit conditions of weather and school use.
