Family Men to be Deferred

WASHINGTON-President Roosevelt today signed legislation authorizing deferment of family men from military service until the supply of single men is exhausted-the first time in American military history that the policy of so preserving established families has been fixed by law.

The measure also sets up a system of financial assistance to dependents of army and navy men in the four lowest ranks, with the government contributing the bulk of the monthly allowance check and the service man the Ballance.
