Dimout Officials to Close Widener Stacks at 8 O'clock

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Widener stacks will close at 8 o'clock beginning next Monday, Keyes D. Metcalf, director of the University Library and Librarian of the College, announced last night.

This change has been brought about because of the impossibility of completely dimming out the stacks, and the objections that have arisen from the local officials as a result of this condition. The Reading Room, however, will not be affected by this ruling, as it is equipped with facilities for complete dimout, and will remain open until the customary 10 o'clock, Metcalf pointed out.

Early closing of the stacks, which were formerly open also until 10 o'clock, will concern primarily graduate students and upperclassmen with special permission. Freshmen are not generally allowed in the stacks.
