Competing not only against undergraduates, but also against weather conditions and handicaps, two servicemen succeeded in placing in the University Handicap Track Meet held Monday on Soldiers Field.
In the javelin throw, H. Reiner, a Quartermaster ROTC student, finished second. His throw actually bettered any of his competitors' but since he was the scratch man, his efforts only landed him in second place.
G.S. Barton, a Midshipman, took third in the shot put. Another Navy man, Robinson, tied with Dean Hennessey, captain elect of the Harvard basketball squad, for supremacy in the high jump, but handicaps kept both from placing. Willo Fisher, IC4A hammer throw champion, took first in that and the discus throw, as well as second in the shot put.
