Mary Martin Will Write to Biggest Buyer of War Bonds

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Mary Martin has decided to cooperate with the P. B. H. War Service Committee for the sale of war bonds and stamps, and will send to the purchaser of the most war securities for the coming week, starting Monday, an autographed picture of herself plus a letter of commendation in her own handwriting.

Details of the persuasion of Miss Martin are rather hazy even to the War Service Committee. She failed to answer one of the 12 letters sent to as many beautiful female Hollywood stars, begging their cooperation with the letter-picture plan, but when in Boston appearing in the musical "Dancing in the Streets," was personally available for sales methods known only to War Service Committee members.

Due to false reports by House Bond and Stamp managers Kurt Hoffman '44 was announced as high-buyer last week; actually, Charles A. Shaw '46 of Kirkland House was top man.
