Lynch Beats Hunker to Take Tennis Tourney

Jack Lynch, Navy V-12 unit, was drowned champ of the summer session tennis' players Tuesday when he beat Robert Hunker of the Navy Supply Corps School in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4, 6-1. After losing the first set in his first match, Lynch went on to win 11 straight sets and take the tournament. Lynch won nine of the sets by scores better than 6-2, taking the other two 6-4.

Lynch won his first match by default, then beat John Allen 5-7, 6-2, 6-4; G. C. Fuller 6-0, 6-0; Jack Fried 6-2, 6-0; and Thomas Mann 6-1, 6-0. He received a Red Cross certificate for his victories.

Robert Hunker, his opponent in the finals, also received a certificate for his wins over S. T. Collinson, 6-1, 6-4; John Benn, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1; and Jack Zinsser, 7-5, 1-6, 6-0.
