Continning the fall intramural gridiron season, the 1944 Lowell House eleven proved its strength Tuesday when a green-jerseyed Bellboy outfit upset Kirkland House, 6-0. The game's only score came suddenly in the opening minutes of play. Kirkland kicked off to Charlie Sammond who returned eight yards to the Lowell 23.

Al Zimmer carried to the 35 and on the next play Dick Bailey, sprint star from Exeter, gathered in a Zimmer pass on the Kirkland 40 and went down the right sidelines to score standing up for the only score of the afternoon.

Kirkland threatened repeatedly but could not punch across, a touchdown, although one offensive drive penetrated to the Lowell 7 before bogging down on a fumble. Blocking for both sides was shabby with Kirkland having a little the better. Kirkland, playing without the services of a number of squad members, unveiled a fine running attack but could not connect on their passes, while Lowell boasted a good punter in lineman Bill Sutton.

Yesterday's contest between the same Kirkland team and Adams, resulted in a 6-6 deadlock. Played in a cold drizzle, the game saw the Gold Coasters dominate play over a Kirkland eleven again hampered by the absence of several regulars, who were prevented from playing by examination schedules. After a scoreless first quarter, Kirkland punched across a touchdown early in the second period, only to have the Gold Coasters tie it up shortly after on a Coburn to Livermore pass. The navy outfit scored on a sweeping end run from the Adams 8.
