Freshmen, Veterans Will Quit Yard Dorms

To Move to Lowell, Adams, McKinlock

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Some 220 new Freshmen and returning veterans now quartered temporarily in Holworthy and Stoughton Halls, or still living at home, will receive permanent room assignments in Adams and Lowell Houses and McKinlock Hall by tomorrow evening, according to plans drawn up this afternoon by Dean Hanford and Den Leighton.

One hundred sixty of these are veterans, both newly-entered and ex-Harvard men. Ninety of the veterans will be moved directly into vacancies in Adams and Lowell, and the remainder have been assigned for the fall term to McKinlock, with membership privileges, including eating facilities, in the two upperclass Houses.

The remaining 60 are new Freshmen who do not have veteran status; 40 of these men will move into vacancies in the four Freshman dormitories, Bryan, Gore, Smith, and Standish. Those left over will be housed in B entry of McKinlock, and will take their meals in Gore Hall.

McKinlock Proctors Named

Crane Brinton '19, Professor of History, who has just returned from three years of work with the office of strategic Services, has been named as resident head proctor in McKinlock. He will be assisted by Lester R. Ott, a graduate student in History, and by David Easton, a teaching fellow in Government.

The hour of 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon has been set as the deadline before which all students must check out of Stoughton and Holworthy and move their luggage to their new quarters. The University will provide trucks to move luggage, at hours to be announced on the bulletin boards at Stoughton and Holworthy.

Before leaving his temporary quarters, every man must deposit his key with the janitor in Stoughton, and must return any sheets, blankets, or towels that may have been issued to him. Room contracts must be signed at the Bursar's Office (Lehman Hall) before keys to new rooms may be obtained from the super-intendents of the dormitories to which the students are being assigned.
