With what is believed to be the highest score ever registered in House football competition, Eliot swept over a powerless Lowell eleven 72 to 0, on Soldiers Field yesterday. The triple threat combine of Johnny Boyce, Gene Brannigan, and Herb Eckenrath proved, behind a forward line of granite, unstoppable to the bewildered Bellboys. Eliot's forward march began in the first period, and continued uninterrupted throughout the entire battle.
On a rain-drenched field under a darkening sky, Adams House literally floated past Kirkland on Friday to win, 18 to 0. In the first half both teams wallowed around in the mud ineffectually, but early in the third period Harry Booth of the Gold Coasters broke through on an off-tackle plunge that developed into a 55-yard touchdown run.
The Winthrop-Kirkland contest his afternoon will wind up the first half of the intramural grid season. Eliot has secured the winning spot, with Adams in second place.
