Crimson Born of 'Magenta' Just 70 Years Ago Yesterday

For CRIMSON editors, May 21 is an historic date. Yesterday marked the seventieth anniversary of the first CRIMSON-before 1875, the paper was called The Magenta. Today the CRIMSON is in war-time duration; seventy years ago it was a fortnightly pamphlet.

"The magenta is not now, and . . . never has been the right color of Harvard," the first CRIMSON declared.
