WASHINGTON--Hopes of Congressional Democratic leaders that the Senate's unwelcome OPA bill would go to conference for modification were bolstered tonight when the Republican House command split over what price control course they should pursue.

They met secretly with House Republican leader Joseph W. Martin, Jr., of Massachusetts, and word leaked out that there were sharp differences over strategy.
