United Nations information shelves will be opened in Widener and all House libraries early in February, according to Stephen M. Schwebel '50, Chairman of the United Nations Council.
The new shelves will be stocked and supervised by the Council's newly-formed Library Committee, which is headed by K. Bruce Friedman '50. They will contain the main publications of the United Nations, including verbatim records of all UN sessions, and periodicals of the State Department.
The Library Committee will also suggest books for purchase by the House libraries from time to time.
"Most of the UN material will be in large enough quantities for circulation, except some, such as the United Nations Weekly information Bulletin," Schwebel stated.
"Plans are also underway for the expansion of the project to the Law, Business, and other graduate libraries later in the term," he added, nothing that the organization, founded last October, now has over 30 members, from both the College and the graduate Schools.
