Hemenway Clear As Houses, Yard Absorb Overflow

Hemenway Gymnasium saw its last use as an emergency dormitory last night, and today the last three of the original 40 occupants will move into the Houses and Yard Halls. Robert B. Watson, associate dean and housing director, reported yesterday that he was gratified and surprised at the speed at which his office had been able to move the incoming men into regular quarters.

He attributed three causes to this early settlement of the most critical part of the University's housing problem. These were, the withdrawals of students who were here in the fall term, the rapid evacuation of rooms by the recent group of graduates, and the failure of a number of men registered for the spring term to sign the book during the last week.

The Housing office had anticipated using Hemenway until late in February, but the speed in locating of places for new men will make it possible for the the office to give its future vacancies to commuting Seniors who suffer a real hardship in making the daily trek to and from their homes.
