Zecharish Chafee, Jr., Langdell Professor of Law, will be one of two United States representatives on the new United Nations Subcommittee on Freedom of Information, set up yesterday by the U. N. Economic and Social Council at Lake Success.
Ten of the twelve delegates to the new commission were appointed yesterday. The commission will formally come into existence tomorrow when the final two members are chosen. A companion subcommission designed to protect minorities against discrimination was also appointed.
Professor Chafee has been teaching at the Law School since his graduation in 1913.
The only other American to be selected by the U. N. was Jonathan Daniels, who will serve with the second agency.
