Crimson Wrestlers, Minus Two Regulars, End Season Here Today Against Springfield

With 11 grueling meets behind them, Chief Boston's Varsity wrestlers meet a strong team from Springfield College in the Indoor Athletic Building this afternoon in their twelfth and final dual match of the 1947 winter season. The bouts begin at 2:30 o'clock.

Springfield, a training school for physical education majors, comes to Cambridge with a well-conditioned team boasting a record of close matches with former Crimson opponents. Strong in the weights where the Varsity is weak, Springfield has good men in the light classes, a captain who wrestlers at either 136 or 145, and a 230-pounder to round out its squad at heavyweight.

Two of Chief Boston's regulars, Dan Ray and Pete Fuller, will not go in this meet, but their places will be capably filled by two newcomers to the squad. Howie Houston, Varsity tackle last fall, will be in the heavyweight division, while Jim Conant, a former Garden City matman, will be at 155.

Houston, the regular Freshman heavy, has won all his matches this season by pins, and is now probably more than a match for most college heavies in the East. Frank Trinkle, the team's reliable operator in the 136-pound class, will be in his usual slot.

The Crimson lineup: 121, Bill Bluemel; 128, Pat Bowditch; 136, Frank Trinkle; 145, Red Cassady; 155, Jim Conant; 165, Don Louria (capt.); 175, Bob Claflin; Unlimited, Howie Houston.
